We will keep fighting for all libraries - stand with us!
"Hello, I'm Akira Toriyama."
"You can see both extremes of Dragon Ball and Final Fantasy designs in these characters, but this isn't simply an RPG that combines them. Yuji Horii and I determined a direction for the graphics together at Square. We thought about the graphics of the medium, our strong and weak points, and how much the project would cost. It took us about 3 hours to plan everything out, but the thing that really surprised us during the planning stage was how much thought we put into things like the game's landscapes. We thought the graphics might not look great in-game, but they turned out fine despite the blurriness because it's easy to see every pixel on the screen. We were faithful in that vision, and that faith paid off. I thought the screen wasn't going to be able to match the vision that the two of us had in mind." (laughs)
"Hello, I'm Horii."
"While making the prototype of Chrono Trigger, the three of us thought the amount of data storage required to make a fun map would fill the cartridge. Since the end of development, I've wanted to see how this kind of adventure would appeal to future players. I wonder if it will be remembered as a fun journey long after it releases. While working on the prototype, we were conflicted about things over and over, but that conflict wasn't without resolution. We had to decide how the game would look and move, and whether things looked right in the world of the game. We weren't sure if we could evoke the same dynamic style and core of anime in the animations. We found just the right direction for this game. I hope everyone will enjoy playing it."
"Hello, I'm Sakaguchi."
"Chrono Trigger couldn't be the awesome game it is now without Mr. Horii of the Dragon Quest games and Akira Toriyama of the Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball comics. So many amazing staff members from Square, like programmers from Final Fantasy 1, 4, 5, and 6, and graphic designers who worked on Romancing SaGa and Seiken Densetsu. They all came together to work on Chrono Trigger. Of course, we three were working hard, but our staff were also doing their best to make our dream RPG. It was wonderful working with them."
